Job Description

Today I asked my students to think about hiring a teacher...
What questions would they ask, what qualities would they look for.  If they had to write the job description, what would it say.

Next we flip that around and imagine that being a student was a "job."  What would the job description say?  What sorts of qualities would I (the teacher) look for if I got to interview and select my students...


Teacher Responsibilities and Characterisitcs:

• patient
• helpful
• flexible
• creative
• willing to help kids and be moving around the class
• must like kids
• organized
• compassionate

Student Responsibilities and Characteristics:

• Respectful
• come to class prepared
• willing to learn
• ask questions
• treat other how you want to be treated
• work hard
• do your homework
• come to class on time
• manage your time in class and outside of class

Homecoming Tradition

At Ashland High School, in Southern Oregon, the student body has elected to eliminate the age old tradition of electing a homecoming King and Queen.  Instead, the students will elect the senior class homecoming court, consisting of three individuals.  The class representatives say this is more reflective of the time and population of their school.
