New Goal

Today we begin a new unit.  This means that students also get the results from the last test.  This is a great time to reflect on their goals and set new goals for the future.  Quite often we ask students to set goals, but if they never have the opportunity/incentive to reflect back and monitor their progress towards these goals, then the goal becomes irrelevant.

Answer these questions on a piece of paper:
  1. What was your goal for this most recent unit?

  2. Did you meet your goal?

  3. If you did meet your goal, reflect on the actions that led to your success.

  4. If you did not meet your goal, reflect on the actions or circumstances that caused you to fall short.  Were these circumstances within your control?

  5. What is your new goal for the upcoming unit?

  6. What actions will support this goal in class?

  7. What actions will support this goal outside of class?

Homework:  Write your new goal on an index card (decorated as you like) and bring it to class next time...
